The Chicago Co-op Convergence emerged as a coalition of cooperative business enthusiasts in Chicago meeting once a month to support each other and find ways to grow the cooperative movement.

The interconnected C's of the official font of the City of Chicago 'Big Shoulders' create a fractal C, larger than the sum of its parts.

The color scheme was chosen to represent the three major types of cooperative structures:
- Red for Worker Cooperatives
- Orange for Housing Cooperatives (inspired by the classic Chicago brick architecture)
- Teal for Consumer Cooperatives
